It’s true, if it wasn’t for Cinderella and The Little Mermaid, Disney would have been closed long time ago, Walt Disney put all his money on Cinderella, if it flopped in the box office it would have been the end of Disney, same goes with The Little Mermaid, both movies were a huge success, so huge that Cinderella helped Walt building Disneyland, and The Little Mermaid rose Disney from the Dark ages to the Renaissance.
"Make sure she’s safe."
Now to most people, this is probably a really cute scene. Like “oh look at that’s so cute look at him he’s so caring and nervous and wow that’s adorable”. Nopedynopenopenope. This is actually a tragic scene, no matter how adorable it looks. Because we finally see one of Kristoff’s main characteristics throughout the movie.
He’s not enough.
He’s not enough to stay with Anna because he’s just a commoner and she’s a princess.
He’s not enough to save her because she has a fiance at the castle who is waiting for her and he’s probably perfect and he’s going to save everything.
And he’s not enough to just warm her up because he has barely communicated with a human before her so he uses a fire instead.
Throughout the whole movie, Kristoff backs away from Anna because he thinks she doesn’t need him. He thinks that there is always going to be someone better. He’s lived his life all alone because he thought that humans didn’t need him, didn’t want him.
That is until he sees that blizzard because even if she doesn’t need him, he definitely needs her.
I don’t understand because wasn’t Olaf’s actions of lighting the fire, almost melting and then trying to save her and act of true love and shouldnt that have unfrozen her heart?
I thought the same thing when I watched it.
I think it’s because he’s a part of Elsa, and because he’s a part of her, he’s doing all the things that she would have done or something she would have wanted to do (if that makes any sense at all).
But because Olaf wasn’t strictly alive, per say, and because he didn’t have a brain or heart or anything like that, although he did know what love was — Because of Elsa? — it didn’t count because it was like Elsa’s conscience was doing the work without the warmth.
Just as Marshmallow was the bad part of her, Olaf was the good part.
